Name of Assignment: Computer Science, Mad Libs
Subject: Computer Science
Facilitator/Teacher: Mr. Murali
Description of Work/Assignment: Create a Mad Lib using code inputs.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
I feel this assignment addresses thinking and problem solving. Throughout this assignment we had to debug our code by reviewing each different piece of code. We had to find where the inputs were incorrect and figure out on our own how to fix the code!
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am most proud of my time management skills I used throughout this assignment. I got my project done with no breaks and used my time wisely. I made sure I did the best I could and reviewed all my code before submitting it.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I learned to be more self directional through this project. I didn’t get the opportunity to talk to Mr. Murali and ask questions due to distance learning, but I still managed to work out my issues by myself! This whole distance learning program has taught me to rely on myself and work out problems without asking a teacher.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult part of this task was debugging my code. This mad lib project contained a lot of code in a little space, so it was difficult to tell where you made errors. Thankfully, I made very little mistakes so I didn’t need to search too far in my code to debug.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
If I could redo this project again, I would make my story a bit more interesting. This wasn’t the main purpose of the project, but I believe that if I spent more time creating a better story, I may have enjoyed the results more.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This assignment relates to the modules we are reading in Computer Science. We use edhesive and watch videos and code along. I’ve been learning lots of interesting ways of coding. For this project we had to apply what we learned in these modules into our projects.
How can you apply this to future learning?
In the future, I will use these input and debugging skills to improve upon my coding skills. I will be adding these input skills into all coding I do from now on. I will especially be using the debugging technique to check all my code from now on.
